Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk cold

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  • Add cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and cut it in using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.

  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted garlic butter immediately after removing them from the oven.
