Matcha Latte

  • Milk frother or saucepan

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tsp matcha powder premium or ceremonial grade
  • 2 tbsp hot water just below boiling (175°F or 80°C)
  • 1 cup milk dairy or non-dairy like almond, oat, or soy
  • 1 tsp sweetener of choice optional (e.g., honey, sugar, maple syrup)

Instructions
 

  • Place 1 tsp of matcha powder into a small bowl.
  • Add 2 tbsp of hot water (175°F or 80°C) to the matcha powder and whisk with a matcha whisk (Chasen) until smooth and frothy, forming no lumps.
  • Heat the milk in a small saucepan over low-medium heat or using a milk frother until warm and frothy.
  • If using a sweetener, stir it into the warm milk until dissolved.
  • Pour the whisked matcha into a mug, followed by the warm and frothy milk. Stir gently to combine.
  • Optional: Top with extra foam or a dusting of matcha powder for decoration. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Experiment with different types of milk to discover your favorite. Adjust the sweetness level to suit your taste preferences.
